SCOVIE 2017 1ST PLACE GREEN CHILE SAUCE

The 2017 Scovie Awards have been announced and the winner is… first a little backstory.
New Mexico is known for beautiful scenery, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, our amazing weather and of course, Green Chile. Anyone who has visited New Mexico can tell you the one thing that defines our state is a love for the flavor and heat of it.  In fact,  New Mexico is nicknamed The Green Chile Capital of the World. Sometimes, this spicy little pepper goes by the name chile verde or chili verde, but no matter how you spell it or say it, it’s a definite staple of New Mexican cuisine

When we began to work on our recipe, we were obsessed with creating something special to highlight the flavor of our delicious unofficial state food.  Born and raised in New Mexico and mighty serious about chile verde, we knew ours had to be the best. After experimentation, trial and error, we finally perfected our toasty sauce with its blend of tomato, onion, garlic, spices and, of course, plenty of green chile. Our  sauce consists of local green chile peppers that have been grown without any genetic modification and like all Gilly Loco salsas and sauces, we keep it free of artificial ingredients. with that in mind, we are happy to announce-

Gilly Loco wins 1st Place for Best Prepared Green Chile Sauce at the world’s most competitive fiery foods show! The 2017 Scovie Awards and the National Fiery Foods and Barbecue Show was made up of 131 entrants from the United States, Canada, Croatia, Hungary and Australia. With 34 states and 5 countries entered, the competition was fierce. The judging panel of top culinary experts honored Gilly Loco with a 1st place in the Green Chile Prepared Sauce category. This winning product was recognized and applauded of its amazing flavor.

How can you best enjoy it? You can add the sauce to many different recipes such as stew, chicken enchiladas, or shredded pork. You can also use the sauce as a condiment for burgers and grilled meats, fish and poultry. Don’t be scared to dip a chip into it either! Our sauce is a star on its own, thanks to the amazing flavor of the natural ingredient —the fresh New Mexican green chile.
