Be Spicy My Freinds!

5 Things You Must Do In Albuqurque

It’s that time of year! The green chile is roasting, the leaves are changing colors, the temperature is dropping and the balloonist are in the air. Fall is definitely upon us, so grab your pumpkin spice coffee and your candy corn before they’re all gone!

Every year, Albuquerque, New Mexico hosts one the world’s largest balloon ascensions with over 500 balloons in the air at one time. This mass ascension is topped off with one of the most beautiful sunrises you will ever see! The sun will rise over the Sandia Mountains giving the sky mixed colors for the early birds to see.

I have seen the Balloon Fiesta for over 20 years now and each year is better than before! In between the scheduled events, Albuquerque has a lot of must see attractions and foods for everyone! Here is my list of things you must do before you leave.

Albuquerque Old Town
This is in the heart of Albuquerque, representing some of the finest New Mexico culture we have to offer. What I admire most, is all the unique gift shops. One of my favorite shops is Wild West T’s and Gifts which is located on 401 San Felipe St NW. They have a huge selection of souvenirs, a friendly staff and free water! Don’t get dehydrated in New Mexico. You will regret not getting that free bottle of water.

Old Town also hosts amazing tours like the Ghost Tours and the Breaking Bad RV tour. Book your tour soon. Spaces are limited but they are worth it if you can get in!

Sandia Peak Tramway
The Tramway is completely jaw dropping! The 15-minute tram ride is fun and insightful as it takes you 2.7 miles from the base to the peak. The view is incredible from start to finish as you take in the New Mexico wildlife and city views while headed to the top of the mountain. Dress warm as you will be submerged in the Sandia Mountains which means that the temperature usually decreases. Enjoy the view, restaurants and experience as it will be one to remember!

New Mexico Breweries
Albuquerque is starting to become very popular for all the new brewery’s popping up. If you like to treat yourself to a “nice cold one” while on vacation, we have you covered! Click the link for the top ten brewery’s in Albuquerque according to Yelp. Make sure to try the local craft beers. They will keep your whistle wet in the New Mexico heat!

New Mexico Cuisine
Red or Green? This is The New Mexico question and it refers to what type of chile you like. One of the best products that you will find is Gilly Loco. Gilly Loco makes the best salsa, chile and chips on the market and will be on site of the Balloon Fiesta grounds giving away free samples! They use fresh ingredients in every jar without using preservatives or artificial flavoring! This can be found on the shelves of many supermarkets across New Mexico but ordering online is also quick and easy. They have amazing products like red and green chile, Ghost Pepper Salsa, Traditional Salsa, Tomatillo Salsa and many more! Once you try Gilly Loco you will be Loco for life! Don’t go home without it!!!

Albuquerque Bio Park
The Albuquerque Bio Park is a great place to spend a day. It has the Zoo, Aquarium and Botanic Garden all in the one location. The Bio Park is full of fun and excitement as you can hear the lions roar or see the sharks swim. Interact with the animals like never before as this will surely bring a smile to the whole family! This is one of my favorite places to be as the weather starts to cool down.
