Gilly Loco™ Chile Verde Southwestern Fried Chicken

A southern staple meets southwestern tradition ! Add a kick to your dinner tonight with our Chile Verde Toasty salsa. Add pepper jack cheesy broccoli and complete the dish with mashed potatoes smothered in the salsa too! It’s the perfect comfort food meal the whole family will go loco for!

Assemble the Ingredients-

  • 5 cups buttermilk
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 8 oz. Gilly Loco™ Chile Verde
  • 6 chicken breast halves, pounded thin
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 3 teaspoons orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • Pepper to taste

Method of Cooking-

  1. In a mixing bowl marinate chicken in the buttermilk, garlic and Gilly Loco™ Chile Verde for at least 2 hours.
  2. In another bowl combine flour, orange zest, salt and pepper. Working in batches, coat the chicken and let stand for 20 minutes.
  3. Prepare deep fryer by heating oil to 350°F. Fry chicken for 6-8 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  4. For the sauce, melt butter and whisk in honey and chile verde over medium low heat in a small saucepan. Keep warm until ready to serve.

Gilly Loco™ Chile Verde Sweet Honey Sauce:

  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup honey
  • 4 oz. Gilly Loco™ Chile Verde

Serve:

Serve with mashed potatoes, smother sauce over everything!
